About Raheny Driving Test Centre
The former Raheny Driving Test Centre served Dublin 5. RSA announced its closure for 18 September 2026 and the transfer of affected applications to Killester. Use the centre and attendance instructions shown in your current MyRoadSafety appointment.
Learners based in Raheny, Kilbarrack, Donaghmede, Clontarf, Killester and other north-east Dublin areas should plan around the centre shown in their current MyRoadSafety appointment. For a transferred Killester appointment, follow the Killester attendance instructions rather than travelling to Raheny for the test.
Need an earlier appointment in this part of Dublin? Review Killester and the dates you can attend. The plan links on this page now select Killester.
Raheny Pass Rate and Statistics
Pass Rate Analysis
Raheny’s pass rate was 43.7% in H1 2024, compared with the supplied national average of 47.3% for the same period. This is historical context, not a prediction of any learner’s result. A pass rate can reflect many factors, including the mix of candidates taking tests during that period, so it should not guide assumptions about the centre or your chances. Focus on consistent, safe driving and being ready on the day. Data source: RSA.
How Raheny Compares
The closest supplied alternative is Killester, 1.6 miles from Raheny. Finglas is 5 miles away and Charlestown is 5.1 miles away, while Dun Laoghaire is 6.2 miles away and Mulhuddart is 8.3 miles away. These are travel and appointment-choice options, not easier or harder test centres. Consider the journey you can make reliably, your instructor’s availability and the RSA appointment options that suit you.
Preparing for Raheny
Prepare for ordinary north Dublin driving conditions rather than trying to predict a test route. Around Raheny, practise reading road signs early and planning ahead where through roads such as Howth Road meet village streets including Watermill Road, Main Street and Station Road. Work on safe observation before turning, changing position or moving away, especially where pedestrians, cyclists and buses may be present.
Give yourself practice in residential streets too. Keep your speed appropriate, scan for parked vehicles, leave proper clearance and be prepared for oncoming traffic where space narrows. Rehearse controlled stops, hill starts where suitable and reversing manoeuvres only where they can be completed safely and legally. On the day, respond to the road and the examiner’s instructions, not to a memorised local sequence.
Getting to Raheny Test Centre
Raheny is on the DART corridor, with Raheny Station listed in Dublin City Zone 1. Iarnród Éireann records ramp access to the northbound platform and lift or ramp access to the city-centre and southbound platform. Dublin Bus says the H1, H2 and H3 services serve Raheny as part of the H-Spine, and route 6 also serves the wider area. These transport details describe the Raheny area. For a transferred Killester appointment, plan the journey to the location in MyRoadSafety and follow its arrival instructions.
